OCTOBER 21, 2021: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines hosted a networking event at Expo 2020 Dubai with approximately 40 attendees present. The invitees included members of the Prominent Family of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), members of the Diplomatic Corps, participants from pavilions already engaging St Vincent and the Grenadines on possible investments and Vincentian investors.

Dr The Hon Ralph E. Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, brought greetings via Zoom and spoke encouragingly about the investment climate and opportunities available to investors.

One of the high points of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Cardiff Academy of Wales and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SVGCIC) to promote joint education and cultural collaboration.

The agreement was previously signed by President of the SVGCIC Mr Peter Van Whervin on behalf of the Chamber’s members. Mr Sajid Ghaffar, Chairman, signed the agreement at the event on behalf of the Academy; this was witnessed by and presented to the involved parties by His Excellency Sheikh Dr Hamed bin Ahmed Al Hamed, Chairman of Al Farida Investments Company (Abu Dhabi, UAE) – who attended as Honourable Guest.

The scope of the collaboration includes but is not limited to: joint and articulated degree programs; joint teaching, research or cultural activity; mobility of faculty, scholars and students between institutions; professional staff development; and the sharing/creation of educational materials and resources.

Ms Annette Mark, Executive Director of Invest SVG and SVGCIC Vice President, represented the Chamber at the signing.

Additionally, Ghaffar congratulated the Draycott Group and Cardiff Academy Sixth Form College on the MOU signing. Both entities are seeking to develop educational and real estate links between Wales and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
